5 Things Inspiring Me: November 2023

Holiday shop launch, giveaway, upcoming events, & more!

Hey friend, hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This year I did a beachside 5K with my friends and since most of my family is traveling, Wes and I had an intimate Thanksgiving feast with my mom and brother. 😋🍽

🙌 CHEERFUL NEWS

  • I celebrated my birthday this month! 🥳 I had an amazing time eating omakase at Sushi Enya, seeing H.E.R. perform in Hollywood, watching UCLA destroy USC, and falling in love with harbor seals at the Long Beach Aquarium. It was a packed and wonderful week! 🥰

  • I’m working with Adobe as an Adobe Express Ambassador! 👩🏻‍🎨 I’ve been an Adobe fan for over a decade, so when they reached out for this partnership I was ecstatic. If you have any questions about the programs I use or want to see me create tutorials on specific topics, let me know!

5 THINGS INSPIRING ME

1. ARTIST: Joshua Mizusawa

Joshua is a Japanese/Hispanic artist from Albuquerque that paints with a “pop contemporary and neo traditional Japanese” style. He posts binge-worthy BTS videos paired with solid creative advice and he’s inspiring me to start painting once the holiday madness is over.

Check out his work here.

2. BOOK: Range by David Epstein

I’m re-reading this book because of my recent interest in the idea of being a multidisciplinary creative. David talks about the benefits of being a generalist vs. a specialist in diverse professional settings, including examples of the world’s best innovators, athletes, and creators.

Check out the book here.

3. SMALL BUSINESS: Chingoo Snack Mix

I recently found out about this delicious chex mix-style asian-inspired snack brand while attending their 3 year anniversary event in Ktown. “Chingoo” means friends in Korean and I love that Willy’s brand is all about friendship and connecting with his asian roots. For his event he even had chingoo-bracelet making stations. So cute and clever!

Check out the shop here.

4. PODCAST: Story behind Beehiiv w/Tyler Denk

A few months ago I made the switch from Mailchimp to Beehiiv for my newsletter platform and so far I’ve been extremely happy with their features and UI. Tyler was the founding engineer at the Morning Brew and used his expertise in platform customizations to scale it for creators like us. I’ll share more about my experience in a future blog but if you’re interested in using Beehiiv, here’s a referral link!

Check out the podcast here.

5. VIDEOS: Harbor seals of La Jolla

After expressing my love for harbor seals, my friend shared this account with me. It’s simply an account filled with videos of this guy hanging out with seals in La Jolla. He’s named them Bubbles and Sealvester, and his daily uploads have brought so much joy into my life.

Check out the videos here.
